A purpose driven economy 

In today's world we face major social and environmental challenges such as poverty, loneliness, growing inequality and the loss of biodiversity. Are you worried and/or do you want to contribute to solutions to come to a more meaningful world? Then this might be the programme for you!

In a purpose/meaning economy, the primary focus is not on financial values ​​alone, but there is a balance with social and ecological values. We call this multiple value creation.

You take control to investigate your own personal motivations, your personal 'why' and arrive at a personal value framework. Based on this, you will build a well-rounded team and you will focus on the complex and global issues of our time in the field of social and ecological challenges like poverty, inequality and climate warming.

Purpose Driven Impact is an English-language programme. The assignments may be carried out in both Dutch and English.

What will you learn?

During this programme you will:

  • Learn to align your actions with your personal values and position yourself effectively within your field and society.
    This process enables you to work driven by your own unique purpose.
  • Learn to critically examine complex global issues that interest you, identifying their root causes.
    This knowledge allows you to develop strategies that make a meaningful and sustainable contribution to these issues, promoting a purpose-driven economy.
  • Experience how an open and curious attitude, combined with working in an interdisciplinary team, enables you to address significant challenges and transitions guided by your personal goals.
  • Learn to dream big yet focus on practical applications.
    Gain skills in self-reliance and in assembling the right team around a shared purpose, empowering you to make a significant impact with a forward-looking vision.
  • Develop a perspective that views the world through the lens of a purpose economy, learning how to set clear directions and concrete ambitions to lead transitions and assist organizations in making significant contributions.

What will you do?

In phase 1, you develop a personal value framework quadrant. In phase 2, you carry out group assignments with an interdisciplinary team of 4 or 5 students, with whom you develop a sustainable solution to a social or ecological issue. This ranges from creating your own purpose quadrant to developing a business case. During the programme, you will learn extensively about the background of today's global complex issues, which includes contributions from specialists and guest speakers on various themes. You will experience what it is like to collaboratively design a business model, make an impact based on your personal value framework, and create value for the stakeholders.

Who will you work with? (Participating programmes)

You will work together with students from Bedrijfskunde, International Business (MKT), Global Marketing & Sales, Creative Marketing & Sales, Marketing of Social Business and SportMarketing & Management.

You will work on issues such as:

Social challenges such as poverty, inequality, loneliness, the energy transition, circular transition or ecological challenges like the loss of biodiversity.

Costs

The programme uses the open source book 'Organizing for Sustainability; Jan Jonker and Niels Faber and various handouts.

Count on a maximum of €25 in costs for, among other things, subscription of streaming services and material.
